As early as on the sixth minute, a charge by the opposing team resulted in a goal from Evgeny Gevel. Stepan Filonov also managed to score against “Diesel” on the 22th minute, while the attacker of “Yermak” Sergei Chubykin followed his teammate about a minute later.
The player of “Diesel” Vadim Shutov managed to return one goal on the 31st minute; however, the attacker of “Yermak” Nikolai Zolotukhin struck another several minutes next.
Vadim Schegolkov managed to shorten the gap for “Diesel” immediately afterwards, but that attempt was thwarted with another goal from the guest team by Alexander Arkhipov.
As a result, “Diesel” lost to “Yermak” with 2:5.
Marat Askarov, head coach of the Angara team, said the match turned out well for his players.
“From the positive moments, we finally got a score during power play today. We haven’t had that in a long time. Overall, I’d say the lads were fighting for the win tooth and nail, and did everything to score three points. Thank you, everybody,” he added.
In turn, Andrei Nikishov, coach for “Diesel” hockey club, placed emphasis on the fact that the team never gave up and kept fighting throughout the match.
“But, regretfully, the goals scored against us due to player removals chose the fate of the match. Afterwards, we had good opportunities, pushed it, but failed to fulfill them. So we have something to work on,” he clarified.
Commenting on fans yelling to force the head coach’s layoff, Andrei Nikishov reminded them the team had to be formed long after all others were fully staffed.
“The topic of that day was the existence of the club itself. This is where we exist, this is where we play and fight. I’d like to remind you that 24 players left the club before the season began. We were able to take those who were not requested by any club in the league. And now, we are building a new team,” stressed the head coach of “Diesel.”
The current problems of the club will be resolved, he added.
“And this overall negative attitude towards us does not let the guys let go of tension and feel confident. Somehow, our wins during the guest matches were taken for granted. But keep in mind that the guys barely had any time to adjust themselves to one another,” the press service of “Diesel” quotes Andrei Nikishov.
After 17 matches, the Penza club holds the 21st position in the roster with 20 points.
The next game is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, where the team will go to Ryazan to play against the eponymous local hockey club at 19.00.
