Penza female footballers leave for Guatemala with Russian team for World Cup

Penza, 22 November 2015. PenzaNews. Three players of the Penza female mini football team “Laguna-UOR” – Maria Surnina, Ksenia Olkova and Alexandra Chernova – left for a flight to Guatemala together with the Russian team in the morning of Sunday, November 22.

After the training and education assembly, the young women were included in the national team that will compete for the medals of the sixth Mini Football World Cup on November 24-29.

The national team includes a total of 14 female footballers, including: Anastasia Ivanova, Margarita Semenova, Maria Filisova, Elizaveta Nikitina and Anastasia Durandina from St. Petersburg “Avrora”; Tatyana Korzhova and Tatyana Kuleshova from “Snezhana-Kotelniki”; Dina Danilova and Elena Merkulova from Moscow “Torpedo-MAMI”; Alexandra Samorodova from “Tyumen”; and Alena Zhizhova from Novouralsk “Rodina-66.”

Evgeny Kuzmin was assigned as the head coach for the team.

Russia was placed into Group B, where it will compete against Spain, Japan and Guatemala.

“First Evgeny Kuzmin’s girls will be tested by ‘the Red Fury’ on November 24. On the next day, they will play a match with Guatemala, and meet with the Japanese team on November 26. The two strongest teams will continue the struggle for the pedestal in the semi-finals. It is also important to point out that the four teams in Group A at the 6th World Cup come from Brazil – current champions and five-time winners – as well as Portugal, Iran and Costa Rica,” the press service of the Russian Mini Football Association commented for PenzaNews agency.
