The team went to the finals, and lost to Brazil, world’s strongest female mini football team, in the last match of the competition.

Russian players managed to hold off the assault until the final minutes of the first period, when luck turned away from the team and Anastasiya Ivanova’s goal zone began to crumble from precise strikes.

Amanda de Oliveira was the first to score against Russia, when she connected the shoot from the center on the 15th minute, and followed it up with the second goal two minutes later. One of the last attacks against the Russian goal zone also resulted in a successful far corner strike from the Brazilian forward Carolin Marsiano, 3:0.

The Russian players began the second period in a more collected fashion, and managed to stave the opponents away from extending their advantage.

One of the best nearly successful counterattacks came from Maria Filisova, national team’s captain. Brazil replied with a goalpost hit after Maria Surnina took over as the goalkeeper – for the first time in the tournament, just like Elena Merkulova.

Evgeny Kuzmin’s team ended the match with the last all-out assault against the Brazilian team, which for the sixth time in a row earned its highest title.

This was the first time for the Russian team to win silver at the women’s world championship.

The Spanish national team took the third place, says the press service of the Mini Football Association of Russia.
