The first team to compete with the club will be “Kristall” on Sunday, January 10.
Currently, the two teams, from Penza and Saratov respectively, have much to be desired: they are currently holding the 24th and 25th place in the tournament with only 34 and 24 points after 36 matches overall.
The underdog positioning of the aforementioned teams was caused by circumstances beyond their control, says the head coach of “Diesel” Andrei Nikishov.
“‘Kristall’ is the team that was composed at the last possible moment, just like ours, with the same provisions available. But I have no doubts we will have a rivalry going on,” he said.
The preparation to the upcoming meeting will be no different from procedures before any other one, the coach explained.
“We are taking preparations for any opponent seriously. But one must realize that 2015 was a tough year, and so we greatly seek to begin the new year with something positive – with a victory – and proceed forward with a positive charge, while leaving all things negative in the poor year. It will be an important match and a ruthless clash,” Andrei Nikishov stressed.
In spite of all misfortunes, the team “must think about the play-offs and believe in it,” added the head coach of “Diesel.”
“Winning matches is possible. The important thing is to preserve the team’s attitude and spirit. The final game versus Angarsk, even though we lost at 1:2, showed everybody rooted for the win. The team is now a solid union that is very pleasant to work with. Of course, we are not in our league right now,” the trainer pointed out.
During the team’s home match series, “Diesel” will compete against “Yuzhny Ural” from Orsk on January 19, Chelyabinsk “Chelmet” on January 21, Kurgan “Zauralye” on January 23, and Tyumen “Rubin” the day that, says the press service of the Penza team.
