The mayor expressed his opinion during the reconstruction issue task force session held on Monday, January 4, which featured his deputies Vladimir Popkov and Sergei Volkov, the head of the Economy Development Department Alexei Ryabov, heads of city authorities, as well as representatives of the civil committee on World Cup preparation.
Discussing the funding and the main parameters of the reconstruction process for the sports complex, the city administration head placed particular emphasis on keeping the project functional and architecturally lean, and added that increasing the costs is out of the question.
In addition, Victor Kuvaytsev strongly reminded the relevant authorities to be thorough during preparation of documentation for the tender to make sure only responsible subcontractors will get through, says the press service of the Penza city administration.
As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, the Penza sports complex “Zenit” located on Titova proyezd, 3A, was included in the online roster of training facilities that will be used for the 32 finalists of the 2018 World Cup.
The large-scale reconstruction will be necessary for the sports complex to comply with the FIFA requirements, such as having a natural-grass football field at the stadium.
The reconstruction of the sports complex is scheduled to begin in spring 2016, with the exact costs of the process to be announced at the end of the design phase.
