This victory became the second in a row for the Penza team.

The initiative changed hands throughout the match as both teams kept gaining and losing the advantage over one another. The goalkeepers of both teams held reliable defense of their respective goalposts that regularly experienced threats by opposing players, and the game developed into an intense rivalry with several clashes.

The first goal against “Yuzhny Ural” was scored by the new player for “Diesel” Stanislav Kuchkin during the first period. Later on, he scratched another one against the opposing team, but the second goal kept the fans waiting for quite a while as the uneasy score remained unchanged until the middle of the final period. The Penza team improved after gaining a comfortable advantage, and soon enough Nikita Krotikov took an accurate shot between the goalposts of the opposing team.

On that match, over 3,500 people, including the Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev, visited “Diesel-Arena” to root for their favorite team.

The game, just like the match versus the Saratov “Kristall,” concluded with a raffle for match spectators, some of whom received presents from players of “Diesel.”

The match was not an easy one, said the head coach of the Penza “Diesel” Andrei Nikishov.

“I was greatly worried to see us miss the opportunities during the face-offs. […] Still, luck is luck. We wanted to win and prepared for it. The team was visibly striving to complete their match objective,” the press service of “Diesel” quotes the coach.

After 38 games, the Penza team has earned 40 points, placing 23rd in the tournament roster.

The next match for “Diesel” will be another home match against the Chelyabinsk “Chelmet.” It will take place on Thursday, January 21.
