Penza, 25 January 2016. PenzaNews. About 600 swimmers will be taking part in the Volga Federal District swimming championship and competition that will take place at “Sura” Penza water sports palace on February 1-4.

“The championship results will be used to form the official rating of the Russian Swimming Federation in approach for the Russian championship. The competition results will be taken into account before the countrywide competition for men aged 17-18 and women aged 15-16,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Physical Education and Sports informed PenzaNews agency.

The Penza region will be represented by 79 athletes at the VFD championship, and 34 at the competition, they clarified.

“These include the Penza headline swimmers – Victoria Andreeva, Maria Astashkina, Yulia Larina, Roman Larin, Victoria Malyutina, Kirill Mordashev, Ivan Trofimov and Alexander Kharlanov,” the Sports Ministry said.

The official opening of the competitions will take place at 10.00 of February 1, the press service added.
