Penza, 11 June 2016. PenzaNews. The Olympic champion Ilya Zakharov lost the Russian championship gold to Evgeny Novoselov in 3-meter base diving during the championship events currently ongoing at “Burtasy” sports palace in Penza.

During the competitions on Friday, June 10, Evgeny Novoselov from Yekaterinburg earned 480.85 points; while Ilya Zakharov for the Saratov and Penza regions was behind with 447.45 points. At the same time, Alexander Kandrashin from Tolyatti came third with 431.55 points.

Meanwhile, the mixed duel competitions, which were included in the international championship roster a year ago, were dominated by Nikita Shleikher and Yulia Timoshinina for Kazan and Moscow respectively, who earned 333.54 points. They were followed by Valeria Belova (Penza) and Ilya Arzyutov (Saratov) with 297.42 points, and Alexander Lebedev and Anna Chuynyshena (St. Petersburg) with 290.46 points.

The winners of the Russian championship in the team event were Ilya Kuzmin and Valeria Belova (Penza) with 372.20 points, who surpassed Nadezhda Bazhina (Penza) and Arkady Aydarov (Saratov) with 362.90 points, as well as Olga Kulemina and Ruslan Ternovoy (Penza) with 359.55 points.
