The day began with a hurdle race, which required the competitors to scale fences and boom gates and attach fire hoses as fast as possible.
Maxim Ozhgikhin (Kazan, federal firefighting dept No. 35) was the best in the competition, followed by Oleg Varganov (Sarov, federal firefighting dept No. 4) and Andrey Mileshin (Saratov, federal firefighting dept No. 46).
The race was followed by a 4-by-100 firefighter relay race – one of the most spectacular firefighting sport events.
It resulted in a resounding victory for the St. Petersburg team (federal firefighting dept No. 50), who surpassed contestants from Sarov (federal firefighting dept No. 4) and Samara (federal firefighting dept No. 39), says the public relations and fire prevention press center for the federal firefighting dept No. 22.
