The game was the first match for Penza players before the start of the season, and the third friendly match for “Ryazan.”

The first goal – against “Diesel” – was scored at the eighth minute of the first period by Ivan Korenkov.

However, Evgeny Filin was quick enough to equalize the count with a counterattack in under a minute.

In the very beginning of the second period, Evgeny Lyzin won an advantage for “Ryazan”; following that, neither “Diesel” nor their Ryazan opponents were able to score any more goals.

This continued until the last minute of the second period, when Alexander Tarasov finally evened up the score to 2:2 for the break.

The third period’s ice was clouded by icy mist due to the weather, with “Diesel” and “Ryazan” exchanging fruitless attacks one after another.

The three periods of the game ended with an tie.

After five additional minutes, the players decided the fate of the match with penalty shootouts in the icy mist.

The only player successful in the shootouts was Ivan Korenkov from “Ryazan.”

Following his attack, the final score of the match was 2:3.

Throughout the game, hockey fans who occupied nearly three fourth of the stalls were supporting the Penza team, and celebrated their performance at the end of the match with a standing ovation.

The rematch between the teams will be held in Ryazan on Wednesday, August 3.
