Penza, 27 September 2016. PenzaNews. Penza judokas won eight medals at the junior interregional tournament dedicated to the memory of SWAT detective Elvira Yakupova and law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, which took place in Ulyanovsk.

The competitions gathered 123 judokas in ten weight categories from Chuvashia, Mari El, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Mordovia, as well as Perm Krai, Orenburg, Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Ulyanovsk and Penza.

“Denis Kulagin and Dmitry Nikolaev are awarded gold medals. Silver winners of the competition are Nikita Gorbatov, Kirill Mosolov, Nikita Uchuev, and the third places are taken by Georgy Urumov, Artem Papshev and Dmitri Pavlov,” Eduard Kopylov, President of Judo Federation of the Penza region, told PenzaNews.

According to him, participation in such events tempers the spirit of sportsmanship and promotes patriotic education of youth.

“During the tournament the participants had an opportunity to visit an exhibition of arms and armor by Ulyanovsk SWAT. In addition, the riot police fighters organized the field kitchen, where the visitor could treat themselves to soldier porridge,” the agency interlocutor added.
