Penza, 17 November 2016. PenzaNews. Some professional sports teams will not receive funding from the Penza city budget in 2017. This became known during the regular City Duma commission meeting on education, health, science, culture and social issues held on Thursday, November 17.

As it was reported by the City Duma press service, the topic was touched upon by the head of the commission Boris Dryakin, who said that currently the budget funding is provided to the football club “Zenit”, the rugby team “Imperiya” and the cycling club “Lokomotiv”.

“When it comes to the professional teams funding, the municipal government suggests supporting only “Zenit” as there is no money left for the rugby and cycling professional teams,” the head of the city Finance Department Olga Zavyalkina explained.

According to her, next year the funding of sports school is planned to be reduced by 10%.

The final decision on the issue has not been taken yet
