Sports and recreation centre with swimming pool opened in Sputnik City

Penza, 17 January 2017. PenzaNews. Sports and recreation centre "Delfin" with two swimming pools, one of which is meant for training, was opened in Sputnik City near Penza on Tuesday, January 17.

The chairman of the board of the public joint stock company Gazprom Victor Zubkov, the presidential plenipotentiary envoy in the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, the governor Ivan Belozertsev and the president of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov took part in the official event.
During the excursion around the sports and recreation centre, they saw the small swimming pool, 12,5m to 6m in size, the gym, and after that they went to the main swimming pool, 50m to 25m in size, which has grandstands with 600 seats, where the opening ceremony was held.
After the welcome speech, Victor Zubkov presented the symbolic key to the sports and recreation centre to athletes of the regional Specialized Children and Youth School of Olympic Reserve in water sports.
In turn, Mikhail Babich noted that the opening of this facility is a sports holiday. The presidential plenipotentiary envoy expressed his hope that it will contribute to further propaganda of healthy lifestyle.
According to Vladimir Salnikov, as the head of the All-Russian Swimming Federation he is very happy about the fact that more and more people get the chance to do sport.
"Let me express my confidence that next year we will hold a festive relay to commemorate one year since the day of the opening, and all people, the honoured guests, who will be at the grandstands at that moment, will take part in it, and the All-Russian Swimming Federation will deal with all organizational matters," he said.
Congratulating those present on the sports complex opening, Ivan Belozertsev wished swimmers new victories and achievements.
The head of the region also expressed his gratitude to the builders, thanks to whose efforts the facility was constructed.
After that, young athletes of the school of water sports demonstrated their talents.
