In Penza "Ski Track of Russia" unites sports lovers of all ages

Penza, 11 February 2017. PenzaNews. The age difference between the youngest and the most experienced participants of the mass race "The Ski Track of Russia", which was held at the Penza “Snezhinka” stadium on Saturday, February 11, was 80 years old.

As the organizing committee told PenzaNews, the youngest girl who took part in the race was Elizaveta Kornilova, born 2013, and the youngest boy – Ivan Polkanov, born 2015. Skiers over 80 years old also took part in the competition. These were Anastasia Avdonina, born 1935, and Nikolai Erokhin, born 1936.

Among those who decided to take part in the race there were many young people: school pupils, students, representatives of different professions. Many participants came with their families.

As it was told by many Penza adults, participation in "The Ski Track of Russia" became not only a tradition for them, but also an opportunity to give a good example to their children.

As it was noted by the Penza mayor Viktor Kuvaytsev during the ceremony of the competition opening, the annual race is a holiday of sport and health.

"Such events let us promote healthy way of life and give many positive emotions," he emphasized.

According to the head of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, the secretary of the "United Russia" regional department Valery Lidin, he takes part in the race with a great pleasure because he has been interested in this kind of sport since the childhood.

"Each weekend I try to walk at least 20 km as it helps me to maintain physical strength and endurance," he explained.

According to data of Penza administration, over 2,000 people took part in the mass race "The Ski Track of Russia".
