Penza, 13 February 2017. PenzaNews. The team from school No. 32 won the Penza speed skating championship "Silver skates", which was held at the premises of the palace of sports "Rubin" and finished on Monday, February 13.

The second place was occupied by the team from school No. 10, and the third place – by pupils from management of modern technologies lyceum No. 2

As it was reported by the deputy chief judge of the competitions, the coach-instructor of the higher category of the short-track department of children and youth sports school No. 3 Alexei Budanov, the competitions had three stages: they were held at the school, area, and city levels.

According to him, eight teams – from gymnasium No. 4 and lyceum No. 2 and schools No. 10, 45, 32, 75, 62, and 57 – competed in the final 200m race.

"The formula for determining the winner is very simple – we calculate the time each team required to run the whole race," the interlocutor explained.

"The competition was attended by professional athletes, who take short track speed skating seriously, and by amateurs," the judge noted.

Alexei Budanov added that speed skating is gaining popularity in Penza, and athletes from the local school show good results. As an example, he mentioned the member of the Russian national team Denis Airapetyan.

"Children are eager to attend our school, and we accept everyone. Especially large number of children came to our school after the Olympics in 2014. Entire classes came here to train," the interlocutor explained.
