Penza, 23 February 2017. PenzaNews. The Penza region occupied the 49th place in the 8th team sports rating compiled by “Petersburg Politics” foundation and the Sport-Express newspaper as of January 1, 2017.

The rating is bases on the participation of Russian clubs in the most popular sports, such as football, ice hockey and Russian hockey, basketball, volleyball, handball, futsal, rugby, and water polo.

In the composite rating the Penza region received 5,600 points.

Sports viewed individually show the following results: the region's performance was successful in football rising from the 58/60th to 57th place, in ice hockey (from 29th to 24th), in basketball (from 34th to 28th), and in rugby (from 10th to 6th).

The region did not manage to keep the 11th place in futsal dropping to the 15th position.

In volleyball, the Penza region became one of the outsiders and dropped out of the rating.

According to the provided information, in the 7th rating compiled as of July 1, 2016, the Penza region shared the 48th and 49th positions with Adygea. At that time, the region received 5,640 points.

Earlier – as of January 1, 2016 – the Penza region occupied the 47th place, where it occurred having dropped from the 39th position.
