About 750 swimmers gather in Penza at Russian Championship

Penza, 19 April 2017. PenzaNews. Almost 750 athletes from 57 cities took part in the Russian Junior Swimming Championship, which started at the premises of the water sports palace “Sura” in Penza.

Greeting the participants, the governor Ivan Belozertsev noted that water sports have always been very popular.
"A lot of famous athletes who became winners of World and European Championships, as well as the Olympic Games come from the Penza region. We have good conditions for their training and development – we constructed a sports complex that meets the modern requirements, and have large experience of conducting sports competitions," the head of the region said.
As it was reported by the press service of the Penza region government, the four-time winner of the Olympic Games, the president of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov became the honorary guest of the championship.
The competitions will finish on Friday, April 21.
