In 2016 Penza farmers produce goods totaling 88 billion rubles

Penza, 28 April 2017. PenzaNews. In 2016 farmers of the Penza region produced goods totaling over 88 billion rubles, which is 7% more in comparison with the previous year. This was reported by the governor Ivan Belozertsev when he was making a report at the 43rd regular meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the region on Friday, April 28.

"Thanks to complex and timely measures of state support, we managed to ensure an upward trend in the industry in 2016. Farmers received 3.2 billion rubles of subsidies first of all for repayment of interest rates on acquired investment loans. Their volume amounted to 15 billion rubles," the head of the region specified.
Ivan Belozertsev added that the region occupies the leading position in several directions.
"According to the results of 2016, the Penza region occupies the first position in the Volga Federal District in the level of grain and leguminous crops as well as sunflower production, the second position – in the level of sugar beet production, increase of milk yield per cow in agricultural organizations, increase of cheese and sausages production, the third position – in the volume of meat and byproducts production," the governor said.
He noted that the Penza region belongs to those regions of Russia that fully provide themselves with food and deliver it to other constituent entities.
