Penza, 10 August 2017. PenzaNews. A book about the history of Penza sport will be published in the region. This was reported by the governor Ivan Belozertsev.

"Sport is a symbol of our region. Penza athletes' victories in world competitions make us proud for our Motherland. We should remember about those who glorify Russia and the native land nowadays and those who used to do it before but passed away. I ordered to immortalize their memory by publishing a book of the history of Penza sport," he said at a solemn event dedicated to Athlete Day, which was held in a regional philharmonic hall on Thursday, August 10.

The head of the region added that the Penza region would go on preserving the memory of famous sports figures naming new schools, buildings and streets after them.

"Young people can follow the example of our famous athletes. We will surely create a museum of sport of the Penza region. For trainees of sports schools, the museum will become an incentive to try to gain victory," the press service of the regional government quotes Ivan Belozertsev.
