Penza, 25 February 2018. PenzaNews. 360 skiers took part in the Penza open championship The Race of the Young among boys and girls born in 2002 and younger, which was held at the stadium Snezhinka on Saturday, February 24.

In addition to athletes from the Penza region representatives of Mordovia, the Ulyanovsk and Saratov regions also participated in the race.

Boys and girls of 2002-2003 years of birth ran 5 and 3 km respectively, 2004-2005 – 3 and 2 km, 2006-2007 – 2 km, and all younger ones – 1 km.

The participants who occupied from the first to sixth places in each age group were awarded with diplomas of the Committee for Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Policy of the city.

A chest number lottery was also held among the athletes. The participants received 30 prizes which included ski equipment and accessories.

A free buffet was opened at the stadium Snezhinka during the competitions, where the skiers could have some pilaf, pastries and warm tea, the mayor's office press service reports.
