Competitions Scarlet Flower unite children from nine regions in Penza

Penza, 27 March 2018. PenzaNews. 36 children with disabilities from nine regions of Russia compete for medals of the all-Russian competitions Scarlet Flower, which are held at the premises of the sanatorium named after V.V. Volodarsky in Penza.

As it was reported by referee of all-Russian category Nadezhda Zykina, this year the competitions are held in five kinds of sport including chess, Russian and international draughts, as well as darts and bocce.
According to her, this allows young athletes to reveal their talents and to find the most suitable sport for them.
The Scarlet Flower tournament has been held for 27 years. It was established in order that children, especially those with serious illnesses, could adapt and not only stay at home within four walls but also interact with their peers, acquire some new skills, which will help them in their lives," the interlocutor noted.
Nadezhda Zykina explained that it is not the first time Penza hosts the tournament and the level of organization has always been highly commendable.
This year the competitions will feature only one wheelchair bound athlete.
It is planned that the results of the tournament will be summed up on Saturday, March 31.
The organizing committee explained, at that moment results of darts competitions were known.
Andrei Agadzhanyan from Moscow was the best among boys; the second place was occupied by Roman Kanteev from Krasnodar, and the third one – by Denis Frolov from Yeysk. Top three girls included Maria Shelestova from the Altai Krai, Anna Medvedeva from Mordovia and Varvara Nikitskaya from Moscow.
In team classification the first place was occupied by the team of the Penza region, the second one – by the Altai Krai, and the third one – by Moscow.
