She finished the distance in 59.19 seconds.

Georgia Davies from Britain, Anastasia Fesikova's long-standing rival, was the second with the result of 59.36 seconds. Carlotta Zofkova from Italy was the third with the result of 59.61 seconds.

Commenting on her performance the Russian athlete reminded that ten years before – in 2008 – she had won a gold medal and set a European record in Eindhoven.

"It was the first championship when I competed against undefeated at that time Laure Manaudou. This time it was harder to win a medal, the last 10 metres were the hardest. I am happy that 10 years later I was able to win the gold," the press service of the Russian Swimming Federation quotes Anastasia Fesikova.
