Nizhny Lomov, 23 May 2016. PenzaNews. A 46-year-old woman living in the Nizhny Lomov area of the Penza region ahs transferred 85,000 rubles to a scammer posing as a bank security officer in an attempt to save her bank account from a hacker.

“The woman received a text message saying that 8,000 rubles were withdrawn from her account. She called back the phone number listed in the ad. An unidentified man told her that there was a hacking attempt against her bank account, and she needs to visit the nearest ATM and follow his instructions to protect her banking card,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews.

After following the man’s instructions, the woman learned that the money were withdrawn from her banking card to an unknown mobile phone account, they added.

“An investigation is underway. The police are identifying the culprits involved in the crime,” the department clarified.
