A resident of the Samara region who was arrested by the police on suspicion of stealing a Land Rover car manufactured in 2014 and worth 1,800,000 rubles from a parking area near a car wash in Penza confessed that it had taken him several months to prepare the theft.

"He explained that in winter 2017 he was present at the sale of the car, which took place in Tolyatti, and noticed the seller drop a spare set of keys. The criminal picked it and followed the new owner to establish his place of residence," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Penza region told PenzaNews.

The department added that since that moment the man, who had been found criminally liable before, started preparations for the crime.

"On transporting the vehicle to Tolyatti, the criminal installed a number plate of his old car on it," the press service said.

The MIA department specified that a criminal case on the fact of theft on a large scale was opened and the criminal was taken into custody.
