"Irina Vladimirovna [Shirshina] will remain under house arrest during the next two months. Such decision was made by the court," a source informed about the progress of investigation told PenzaNews.

He reminded that Irina Shirshina is a mother of many children: her youngest child was born on March 10, 2016, and in a month the vice mayor was back to work.

Irina Shirshina was appointed the deputy head of the Penza administration on land and urban affairs in spring 2015. Previously, she headed the department of state inspection for housing and construction as well as for control over a technical condition of self-propelled vehicles and other types of machinery of the Penza region.

PenzaNews did not manage to obtain a comment of an official representative of the Pervomaisky regional court of Penza on the chosen measure of restraint against Irina Shirshina.

Recently it became known that investigative bodies of the Investigative Department of the Penza region opened a criminal case on the fact of power abuse carried out by the deputy head of the Penza administration.

According to investigation data, it deals with allocation of land.

House arrest is selected for a term of up to two months by a court's decision in relation to a suspect or accused if other measures of restriction cannot be applied.

It consists in isolation of a person from society, their stay in living accommodation where a person lives on legal grounds, introduction of restrictions and establishment of control.

Depending on health condition of a suspect or accused, a place to serve house arrest can be a medical institution.
