Penza, 21 June 2012. PenzaNews. Additional hotel rooms for tourists will soon be equipped in the State Lermontov Museum – Tarkhany Reserve in the Penza region. This was announced by the director of the museum Tamara Melnikova at a press conference at the press center of news agency PenzaNews on Thursday, June 21.

According to the director of Tarkhany, before the visit of the former Minister of Culture Alexander Avdeev, which took place in 2010, the institution did not have the right to conduct business.

“During the visit of Alexander Avdeev, I told him about how we earn money and how we carefully conceal the income, because our regulations did not allow any business activities. We had no right to have either a dining room, or a hotel, or conduct any publishing. We earned mostly by producing things ourselves, selling napkins, tablecloths, different knitting, toys, honey, flour, milled on our windmill, and bread baked out of that flour and so on. I’ve always stood for this way of gift making, when a person buys something and takes a piece of Tarkhany with him,” said Tamara Melnikova.

According to her, the necessary changes of regulations were introduced within six months after the visit of Alexander Avdeev, immediately after that they opened a dining room in Tarkhany, and later a tavern with traditional Russian cuisine in the house of the miller.

“The opening of the hotel is a more complicated case, but recently the museum has managed to buy an old clinical building with the money we earned, so this year we shall have about 20 additional hotel rooms for tourist. Moreover, we have been able to buy and partly exchange two peasant houses near the mansion. So, now we shall have a shelter for people,” summarized the director of the museum-park.
