According to Oleg Rubtsov, one of the organizers of the project, the main venue of this year’s event, just like the year before, will be the square near the regional Philharmonic Hall, while certain events held indoors.

“The festival is scheduled for May 15-17, maybe even with May 14,” he said during his meeting with journalists.

Oleg Rubtsov added there is no schedule for competition as of now, but “Jazz May Penza 2015” organizers have already received many applications from performers.

“We will begin monitoring the club posters in Moscow and St. Petersburg looking for the artists invited to large well-known sites when February approaches, and will shape the program accordingly,” said the organizer.

He noted it will be harder to negotiate with foreign musicians in current economic conditions, as the cost of their participation, according to him, has doubled due to fluctuations in the currency market.

Oleg Rubtsov assured that the organizers plan to continue the festival’s orchestral jazz.

“I really hope we will be able to schedule a full orchestral day this year because we have a great source of music: the Zarechny big band, well-known throughout the country. The Saransk big band is pretty much ready to come. We will also invite artists of the Petr Vostokov Jazz Orchestra. It can probably be called the most eccentric among them,” he said.

Oleg Rubtsov drew special attention to the fact that the distinguishing feature of festival “Jazz May Penza 2015” will be performances of jazz organists.

“Several people have submitted their applications. Organ jazz will be there, definitely. We have collected a sufficient number of proposals from Germany and Russia,” the event organizer concluded.
