Penza, 14 January 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region has developed a draft of its own 2015-2017 import substitution program.
It aims to achieve two main goals: to reduce the region’s dependence on imported goods, including those imported from other regions of the Russian Federation, by meeting local demand with high quality goods of own production; create conditions for the expansion of competitive products.
Program participants will be agricultural producers, industrial enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses.
It includes four sub-programs: “The development of import-substituting production of agricultural goods,” “The production of substituting products in the industrial complex,” “Import substitution in the construction materials industry,” and “SME import substitution.”
The document contains a list of products manufactured abroad, which are planned to be made in the Penza region.
In particular, the Penza branch of JSC MPBK “Ochakovo” plans to introduce the analogue of “BonAqua” sparkling water, while JSC “Vizit” will compete with ciders of “Thatchers Green Goblin” and “Premium Irish Cider.” Moreover, import substitution program relies on JSC “PPO EVT” to present ovens and gas stoves that would compete with Hansa and Ariston products.
Moreover, the proposed draft lists the types of agricultural products for municipal institutions with high potential of import substitution.
“This program has been sent to the leading companies in all industries in the region. In the near future, we will organize a large-scale full-time discussion,” the press service of the government of the Penza region commented for PenzaNews agency.
