Penza, 23 January 2015. PenzaNews. 561 thousand tons of potatoes are planned to be produced in the Penza region in 2015, said Andrei Burlakov, minister of agriculture of the region, during the meeting of the expert council at the department board held on Friday, January 23.

“We plan to increase the production of grain, produce about 205 thousand tons of vegetables, and 561 thousand tons of potatoes, 1,320 thousand tons of sugar beets. In animal production, we plan to increase the production of livestock and poultry, along with milk,” he said.

The minister said that, Penza agricultural producers will receive 2,25 billion rubles from the federal budget and 893 million rubles from the regional budget this year.

Members of the advisory council plan to meet again on Tuesday, January 27, to hold more detailed discussions on issues raised during the meeting and express their views on the growth of food prices.

“The discussion will take place in Penza State Agricultural Academy,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture told PenzaNews agency.
