Penza, 12 October 2016. PenzaNews. A new apple orchard was started in the area rented by the national food group “Sady Pridonia” in Zasursky village of Luninsky area of the Penza region.

It is expected that its area will be 100 hectares.

The president of the national food group “Sady Pridonia” Andrei Samokhin announced the intention to revive glory of Luninsky orchards within 3-4 years.

“We treat this work with great responsibility and plan to annually cover up to 100 hectares of the area with fruit plantations,” he remarked.

In turn, the governor of the Penza region, who also participated in starting of the orchard, suggested considering a possibility of setting up a facility for fruit processing in the region.

As the press service of the regional government reports, currently “Sady Pridonia” rents 2.9 thousand hectares of land in Luninsky area and 1.13 thousand hectares – in Bekovsky area.

In Zasursky village fruit plantations cover over 450 hectares. Gross harvest of apples in 2015 amounted to 1.4 thousand tons, in 2016 it is planned to get 3 thousand tons.
