Penza, 31 March 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza city administration head Victor Kuvaytsev has personally inspected the repairs of a one-meter-diameter underground pressure sewage collector, which suffered a breach on an intersection of Rostovskaya and Ivanovskaya streets in Penza shortly before.

He asked the workers about the results of the measures they undertook in the evening of Wednesday, March 30, and the night that followed.
In turn, they told the mayor that they attempted several ways to flush the collector, but to no avail, and are currently attempting to clean it using horizontal directional drilling.
According to the vice mayor Yuri Ilyin, who also visited the site, the water level did not go down sufficiently at night, where normally water consumption volumes are 50% less than during the day, which is why the workers are attempting the new technology.
“If we manage to flush the collector and the water goes away, we will be able to fix the issue without cutting the water supply in adjacent residential areas,” he said.
According to him, if all measures fail, the communal services will block off water supply to a number of apartment buildings in the Ternovka, Sputnik City, GPZ-24 and Shuist residential areas.
Victor Kuvaytsev instructed to try everything to minimize the inconvenience for the citizens.
The sewage collector breach is serviced by the crews with all required equipment and any necessary resources at their disposal, he stressed.
“We are working on finding the way to flush the collector, in which case there will be no water cuts whatsoever. If we cannot work it out by the end of the way, we will be asking the citizens to make reserve water supplies for some time, as we’ll be forced to block the pipelines for about 8 hours during the night hours, with an obligatory warning,” the Penza city mayor noted.
According to Victor Kuvaytsev, the repair procedure is on his personal and constant attention.
