Samara resident convicted of phone fraud in Penza

Penza, 21 June 2012. PenzaNews. Penza Regional Court left unchanged Oktyabr District Court verdict dated 28 April 2012 against Vadim Boriskin, in accordance with which he was convicted of 13 instances of fraud and one attempt at fraud.

“From April 26 to June 6, 2011 the criminal introducing himself as a son, grandson, son in law or other relative called residents of Penza and reported that he got in a car accident and needed money to escape criminal responsibility,” press secretary of Penza Regional Court Natalia Bychenkova told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She noted that 13 people suffered from the actions of the swindler, the total damage amounted to 710 thousand rubles, the largest sum that was transferred to the criminal was 150 thousand rubles.

“Vadim Boriskin failed to complete one of the 14 crimes because a person, who the victims handed the money, was detained by law enforcement officials. Subsequently, criminal case against this person was dismissed due to the active repentance,” Natalia Bychenkova said.

According to her, Vadim Boriskin was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a penal colony and a fine of 5 thousand rubles. The court ordered the convict to pay compensation for material damage to all the victims.

“The convict did not agree with the verdict and filed a cassation appeal in which he did not assert innocence but asked to mitigate the sentence. The appeal was dismissed. The sentence came into force on June 20,” Natalia Bychenkova concluded.
