Initial inquiry into death of conscript at collecting point conducted in Penza

Penza, 28 December 2012. PenzaNews. Military Investigation Department of Investigation Committee of Russia for Penza garrison is conducting pre-investigation checks on the death of a conscript at the regional collecting point. “Today we can say for sure that it was a natural death. Experts have established that the conscript’s heart stopped,” the head of the department Alexander Krasovsky told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He also added that the experts disproved the cases of hypothermia, drug overdose and incitement to suicide.
“The young man had a serious cardiac disease. It is unknown how he could successfully pass medical examination at the district recruiting office and at the regional collecting point,” the official said.
Alexander Krasovsky stressed that the pre-investigation check on the death of the recruit would last for 30 days, and than would be followed by procedural decision.
“If the doctors who determined his suitability for military service are found guilty, they will face five years of forced labor or imprisonment under Art. 293 of the Criminal Code “Negligence,” he concluded.
