Penza region pensioner killed by Saratov for moralizing about respect for elders

Penza, 5 November 2014. PenzaNews. A 35-year-old man is suspected to have caused the death of a 73-year-old pensioner from Tamala village, the Penza region.
“According to the investigation, in the evening on October 30, 2014, the suspect was in the house of his mother’s neighbor in Podgorenka village, Rtishchevsky area, the Saratov region, where he was drinking together with the resident of the Penza region, who came to his brother for the weekend. During the meal, the two men quarreled because the pensioner started moralizing about respect for elders,” the spokesperson of Investigation Department ICR in the Saratov region told PenzaNews agency.
He clarified that during the quarrel the young man struck the pensioner several times with an air pistol grip on the head and hit him in the face with his hand. The pensioner died some time later at the scene from injuries.
“At the moment the suspect is detained. At the request of the investigator, the man has been taken in custody. Investigators are collecting the evidence,” the agency interlocutor said.
