Penza citizen caught in fraud trying to buy BMW X5

Penza, 9 January 2015. PenzaNews. A 66-year old Penza citizen got caught in an online fraud. He transferred 47 thousand rubles to an unidentified woman, an alleged owner of a BMW X5, as an advance payment for the car.

“According to the victim, he found an ad on Avito.ru that offered a 2013 BMW X5 for 470 thousand rubles from Borisoglebsk town of the Voronezh region. He called a number of an unidentified woman who demanded 10% of the sum as an advance payment. After fulfilling the demand, the man could no longer contact the person as her phone account was disabled, and the ad removed,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs informed PenzaNews agency.

According to law enforcement authorities, the fraud is currently under investigation.

“The police are establishing the identities of persons involved,” said the press service.
