As the press service of the regional EMERCOM department of the Russian Federation told PenzaNews agency, previous year’s winter holidays were stained by 43 fires that ended up in 7 deaths.
“Most fires were caused by misuse of stoves,” said the officials.
According to emergency services, the authorities did a big job to prevent fires in the region, that included distributed leaflets, small household raids, and fire inspections in each and every church and temple before Christmas.
“Water safety inspectors held seven raids in mass ice gatherings during the winter holidays, four of them with rescue services. We gave out over 100 leaflets on water safety. Thanks to daily patrols, we avoided incidents and lost human lives,” stressed the Penza EMERCOM branch.
