Penza, 2 February 2015. PenzaNews. An elderly Penza citizen, 88, lost 15,000 rubles to a phone scammer.
“The woman called the police and explained she received a phone call from an unknown person, who said her son got into a traffic accident and needs money to get out of custody, which will be brought via courier,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs department informed PenzaNews agency.
According to officials, two hours later the elderly woman gave away 15,000 rubles to an unknown person who came to her house.
The fraud victim told the police she knew about such schemes from the media, the press service noted.
“We are investigating the fraud. The police are establishing the identities of people involved in the crime. The suspect looks 28-30; he is 180-185 cm tall, of average build, and has short black hair. He was dressed in a black skin jacket, black boots and dark jeans,” the police reported.
