Police finished investigating lethal traffic accident by “Lenta” trading center

Penza, 2 February 2015. PenzaNews. The police have finished the investigation of a criminal case on a tragic traffic accident by the “Lenta” trading center in Penza that resulted in the death of a young woman, a passenger of an Audi involved in the collision.

The accident occurred in November 2014.

“We have found out the accident was caused by the driver of VAZ-2112, who violated the traffic rules. While under the influence, he was driving on the innermost lane of Stroitelei prospekt–8 Marta street highway towards Ternopolskaya street at the speed of over 100 kmph. Because of that, he failed to notice an Audi car on his way,” Maxim Matrokhin, investigator of the specialized traffic accident department of the Investigation Office of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs department, told PenzaNews agency.

He reminded that the collision resulted in the death of a young woman who was sitting on the passenger seat in the Audi, who succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the official, the driver of VAZ-2112 fully admitted his guilt.

“He received his traffic license less than a month before the collision, and had no record of previous traffic rules violations,” added the police officer. He also noted the young man is studying at the university.

“The relevant article of the law sets the punishment at up to 7 years in prison with a driving ban up to 3 years,” Maxim Matrokhin clarified.
