Penza, 16 February 2015. PenzaNews. The young woman, 18, who had left her newborn boy in a dumpster on Medetsinskaya street in Penza was found guilty of attempted murder.

“The court and the investigators found the citizen tried to hide her pregnancy from relatives and friends. She bore a baby on November 16, 2014, in the bathroom of the dormitory where she lived. Despite the fact the baby was healthy, she put him in a bag and carried him outside to cold weather of -6…-3°C with an intent to dispose of the child. She left the bag with the newborn in a dumpster by an apartment building on Medetsinskaya street, hoping the child would freeze to death,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, informed PenzaNews agency.

She reminded the child was saved by the passers-by, who noticed the newborn and gave him to ambulance workers.

“The court sentenced the woman to 18 months of imprisonment in a penal settlement. The sentence has not yet come to force,” added the agency interlocutor.

As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, a woman found the child when she was walking past a dumpster container on November 16, 2014.Sshe heard strange sounds in the container, and saw the baby in a woman’s handbag, whom she immediately took to the nearby pharmacy. The doctors found the child spent about two hours in the open air. The newborn was taken to the hospital.

At that time, his state was assessed as moderately severe. The baby weighed 2.7 kg and was 51 cm tall.

Later, it was uncovered the newborn’s mother was a Penza citizen, 18, who tried to dispose of the baby because she was afraid to tell her parents about the pregnancy.
