Penza, 24 March 2015. PenzaNews. A cohabitant of the daughter of a woman, 64, who went missing in Penza city in February 2015, was accused of murdering the woman.

“For a long period of time, nobody spotted the woman at her place of residence and in the gardeners partnership where she worked. Her mobile phone was off. The flat of the missing woman was searched, but we found no clues that would point at the reasons of disappearance,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs department informed PenzaNews agency.

Before disappearing, the missing woman had been residing in the flat of her daughter, with whom she was on bad terms, the police added.

“During the questioning, the young woman said she knows nothing of her mother’s whereabouts, and said the missing woman intended to visit the relatives before her disappearance. However, people who knew the missing woman told the police her daughter told them the mother went on vacation. The investigators also learned that the young woman’s cohabitant also was residing in the flat at the time of disappearance, and he too was on bad terms with the missing woman,” the press service said.

With the newly uncovered circumstances, the department explained, the law enforcement forces decided to search the flat of the missing woman’s daughter, and found traces of blood.

“The police detained the daughter’s cohabitant, 30, who later confessed to the crime and showed the police where he hid the body,” the Internal Affairs Ministry reported.

The accused is has been placed under arrest, Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, told PenzaNews agency.

“According to investigators, the man, while in the house, got in an argument with the woman and stabbed her in the neck with a knife no less than three times in the night into January 28, 2015. The woman died on the scene from sustained injuries. Trying to hide the crime, the man wrapped the body in a carpet and drove the body away to a forest in the Penza region in his car,” said the speaker.

The police are currently gathering and registering the evidence, she added.
