Penza, 18 May 2015. PenzaNews. A resident of the Penza region was sentenced to 3 months of imprisonment in a penal colony for failing to pay a criminal fine in time.

“The man tried to bribe an official in the amount of 1 thousand rubles, for which the court sentenced him to a fine of 40 thousand rubles. Unable to pay the entire amount, the debtor asked the court to pay by installments. The petition of the convict was granted,” Yana Zagrebelnaya, official representative of the Federal Service of Court Bailiffs of the Penza region, told PenzaNews agency.

She added that in accordance with the payment schedule, the debtor was to pay 26 thousand rubles within six month: 3 thousand rubles each month in the first two month, and then 5 thousand rubles for each of the next four months.

“However, the debtor violated the installment payment schedule, the remaining unpaid amount of the fine was 11 thousand rubles,” the agency interlocutor said.

According to Yana Zagrebelnaya, the bailiff sent a petition to the Penza regional court to replace the penalty with another punishment.

“The petition was granted. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom,” she noted.
