“Most of the crimes were caused by arguments while under influence,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, told PenzaNews agency.

In particular, one of the cases took place on the evening of January 3 when a Kuznetsk citizen, 24, got into an argument with his brother, 36, over a dropped laptop computer, she clarified.

“During the fight, the young man stabbed his relatives in the back several times. In spite of all efforts by the medics, the man succumbed to the injuries the day after. The young man now faces a lawsuit: he was placed in custody,” Lyudmila Fomina explained.

In addition, on January 7, a body of a man, 54, was discovered in the house in Proletarsky village of the Zemetchino area, she added.

“It was established that he was injured by his live-in lover, a woman, 29, in return for verbal abuse. The woman now faces a criminal case in custody,” said the Investigative Department representative.

According to her, on the evening of the same day, a man, 67, stabbed his stepchild, 44, in the former’s own flat; the latter died from injuries soon after.

“The suspect now faces a criminal case. He does not decline his guilt. The elderly man told the investigators that his stepchild was a debauchee – he did not work and frequently drank. On the day of the murder, they got into yet another argument, which led to the crime,” Lyudmila Fomina said.

A total of four criminal cases under Part 1, Art. 105 of the Criminal Code, “Murder,” had been opened over the 2015 New Year holidays in the Penza region, she noted.
