Alcohol sales points to be inspected in Penza region

Penza, 21 November 2016. PenzaNews. The vice-governor of the Penza region Valery Savin ordered to conduct mass inspections of shops and public eating facilities which sell alcohol drinks because three men died of alcohol poisoning and several people were hospitalized in Kuznetsk.

“Every year people die because of alcohol poisoning. More than 700 people get poisoned and half of the cases result in fatal outcome,” he noted during the meeting on Monday, November 21.
The vice-governor ordered to make a list of the facilities within municipal settlements that have to be checked, to make a test purchase and to carry out more intense prophylactic work with the residents.
“We should secure people, should make everyone realize that buying alcohol in the Internet and in trade facilities that have no license, is simply dangerous for life. We should explain that a cheap product is not always worth buying; famous brands cannot be bought for nothing, it will be a poor-quality counterfeit in 100% cases,” the press service of the Penza government quotes Valery Savin.
As it was reported earlier, on November 20, a group of more than 10 people celebrated a birthday in one of cafes in Kuznetsk of the Penza region. During the celebration people consumed alcohol-containing products. On the night of November 21, those who were in the café felt unwell. As a result, 11 people were hospitalized, three men among them, born 1977, 1981, 1986, died.
Later it became known that one of those who died, was the coach-instructor of the children and youth sports school No.2 in Kuznetsk of the Penza region Andrey Ageev.
A criminal case was opened on the incident under Part 3, Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Production, storage, transportation and trade in goods or products, work or service delivery that do not correspond to the safety requirements”. During the inspection, officers confiscated alcohol containing products and called for expert evidence.
Several patients were sent from the Kuznetsk hospital to the toxicological department of the Zakharyin Penza clinical hospital No.6.
According to the Minister of Agriculture of the Penza region Andrey Burlakov, the participants of the celebration drank Bacardi rum, besides this lot of the drink was not officially registered in the café. The origin and the contents of the alcohol was not determined yet.
