Penza, 12 January 2015. PenzaNews. The suggestion of the Penza region governor Vasily Bochkarev to cut down transportation tax for owners of snowmobiles and quad bikes, made during a January 12 meeting session of the regional government, is illogical, Georgy Kamnev, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region and the first secretary of the CPRF regional committee, commented for PenzaNews agency.

“For our area, a quad bike or a snowmobile is mostly an expensive toy for the rich. We are not in the Far North where people use them for transportation. In our region, the ‘golden youth’ races on general roads on quad bikes scaring off everybody: the same about snowmobiles – somewhere the rich are using them, while the regulars don’t have them [the snowmobiles]. And the latter would instead like to have transportation tax cut for owners of weaker cars, and we, the Communists, told the authorities about it. For such cars – old and weaker units – taxes may be even set at zero. And if we speak about those entertainment vehicles, the rich won’t get poorer after paying the taxes, while the region may lose some money from it. We think there’s no logic in this suggestion,” said Georgy Kamnev.

According to him, the CPRF faction will not support such amendments if the draft bill will indeed be introduced to the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region.

“If it will be dedicated solely to snowmobiles and quad bikes, of course we will protest, because if you approve such a bill, you must take the needs of regular people into account,” stressed the deputy.

The Penza region governor Vasily Bochkarev suggested to cut down transport taxes for snowmobiles and quad bikes during a meeting session of the regional government on Monday, January 12.

According to Vasily Bochkarev, the officials “must legalize these vehicles, otherwise the tax for them is much higher than for a car.” In his opinion, the amendments must be introduced as early as during the oncoming session of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region.
