The population of the Penza region is ready to support the candidacy of the acting governor Ivan Belozertsev during the September elections, predicts political analyst Anatoly Bodrov in interview with PenzaNews agency, based on the results of previously conducted own surveys.

“Frankly, I was afraid of appointment of some “outsider” and it will be a problem. Our region is unknown, nobody knows its potential, but here is the local [appointed]. He knows the people, the people know him, the elite is treat him more or less well...Regarding the ‘outsider’ candidacy or Belozertsev, it turns out that Belozertsev is good,” the agency interlocutor said.

According to him, Ivan Belozertsev has great potential, because he has “access to different people, to the business sphere.”

The expert also expressed confidence that the United Russia party will nominate Ivan Belozertsev as a candidate for the gubernatorial elections that are scheduled for September 13.

“He has a very difficult period. [...] The period to show what he is worth, and he will be showing it to the voters. In other words, he [Ivan Belozertsev] will devote the remaining 3.5 months to gain the trust, expressed by President of Russia, of people,” he explained.

According to Anatoly Bodrov, Ivan Belozertsev's election program should have the most definite ways of solving the existing problems, which have “no end” in Penza.

“By and large, Ivan Belozertsev should form some theses. That is, today we should be expecting for responses not from Krivov [head of Penza administration]. Krivov is… Well, so far we see no deeds [from the mayor], but hear a lot of declarations,” the interlocutor said.

He also clarified that the program must contain the solutions to the problems in the field of demography and the tax increase, the plans of the population income increase and a number of other issues.

“There are a lot of so-called critical factors, and they all must be dealt with. It will depend on the team Ivan Belozertsev presents, and the way his team is going to solve these problems,” he said.

As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, on May 25, 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed acting governor of the Penza region, the chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Secretary of the regional branch of the United Russia party Ivan Belozertsev due to the end of term of Vasily Bochkarev, who has headed the region since 1998.
