Penza, 26 April 2012. PenzaNews. Unification of two universities, Penza State Teachers’ Training University and Penza State University is good for region development. This was declared by the governor Vasily Bochkarev on Thursday, April 26.

“I consider that there should be one large university in Penza with few chiefs but a lot of qualified teachers who receive large salary for training high-quality specialists for the local companies,” said the head of the region.

According to Vasily Bochkarev, there are only two universities in Singapore where population is more than 8 million people, whereas in the Penza region with 1.4 million residents there are 6 state institutions of higher education and several dozen private.

“Such number of institutions is absolutely irrational taking into account rather small population,” emphasized the governor.

“The Minister of Education of Russia was right when he signed the order of unification of two Penza universities,” summarized Vasily Bochkarev.
