Adolescent girls to be vaccinated against cervical cancer in Zarechny

Zarechny, 21 June 2012. PenzaNews. Vaccination of girls aged 9 to 15 years against cervical cancer started in the clinic of Zarechny, the Penza region within the priority national project “Health.”

“According to the vaccination schedule, the vaccine is injected three times in six months. Full cost of the procedure is about 15 thousand rubles,” reported the Head of Media Relations, Department of Public Relations of Zarechny Tatyana Saltsova.

However, she added that this sum of money could be returned to the parents of the child from the city budget.

“An insolvent parent can receive full compensation; the solvent parent will get back 10 thousand rubles. Only one of the parents has the right for compensation,” clarified the agency interlocutor, noting that the municipal budget has 500 thousand rubles for this purpose.

According to Tatyana Saltsova, parents need to apply for vaccination, contract with a medical unit number 59, then apply for compensation to the city Department of Social Development.

“Cervical cancer ranks second among the malignant diseases taking the lives of women. In the world 2,3 million women are sick. In Russia over 12 thousand of new cases are registered every year, about 8 thousand of which turn out to be lethal,” pointed out the agency interlocutor.

She stressed that the effectiveness of vaccination in cervical cancer prevention is up to 90–98% under certain conditions.

“In the US, Canada, Denmark, UK and Australia this vaccination is included in the national immunization schedule. In Russia, immunization has shown successful results in the Moscow region, the Urals, Khanty-Mansiysk, and the Rostov region. Two types of vaccine are used, Gardasil and Cervarix, which are registered in more than 100 countries around the world, including Russia,” summed up Tatyana Saltsova.
