According to employees of retail chains, this was caused by unstable exchange rate and overwhelming demand that is only encouraged by the federal media and by panicking people themselves.

According to one of the supermarket managers of “DNS” digital and home appliances, certain laptop models grew in prices by 2-5 thousand rubles: however, the number of purchases made by the citizens has increased significantly, with frequent long queues in the evenings.

The sellers notice that people are trying to buy several kinds of expensive equipment at once, which is unusual even for the New Year eve with its traditional customer activity growth.

A representative of “Technosila” store chain reported that prices of most of the imported goods grew by almost a quarter during the week.

He added that the staff has to come to work three hours before the shift to replace the old price tags.

According to the store representative, the date of the first significant price increase and a sharp rise in consumer activity was Monday, December 15, which, in his opinion, is directly related to the ruble exchange rate and the desire of people to invest available cash in electronics.

In his turn, one of “Euroset” employees analyzed the demand for the past week and noticed growing interest in Apple products. At the same time, according to him, prices of iPhone 5s increased by 7 thousand rubles about a week ago.

He also spoke about the possibility of iPhone 6 price rise before the end of the year, which until recently cost about 47 thousand rubles, and may soon become available at the price of about 75 thousand rubles.
