Head of Russian Ministry of Transportation informed of Penza local train issues

Penza, 30 December 2014. PenzaNews. The issue of region-wide train transportation in several parts of the state, including the Penza region, became the main topic of the video briefing held by the Minister of Transportation Maksim Sokolov with regional authorities on Tuesday, December 30.

During the event, the high-ranking official learned that two companies in the Penza region that ensure region-wide train transportation have cancelled or amended numerous commute routes despite budget subsidies to recover lost expenses.
According to the deputy chairman of the regional government Valery Bespalov, the companies are violating agreements by unilaterally canceling passenger services, saying that budget funding is insufficient.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Commercial Court have received requests to enforce companies into continuing to provide the services as agreed.
According to the press service of the regional government, the Minister of Transportation also received a report that said the Penza region Tariffs Regulation and Energy Conservation department is reviewing official papers and information provided by the companies to create an economically sound passenger tariffs for 2015.
