Renowned Russian psychiatry practitioner Vyacheslav Belousov is 60

Vyacheslav Belousov, a renowned Russian doctor, high achiever of medicine, the first practitioner to use electrophysiological tests in psychiatry, deputy chief medical officer of the Penza regional Evgrafov psychiatric hospital, celebrates his 60th birthday on Friday, January 9.

In 1978, Vyacheslav Belousov graduated from the medical faculty of the Saratov Medical Institute, after which he remained closely tied to the Penza regional psychiatric hospital – first during his scientific practice, and then, after 1981, as a head of the functional diagnostics laboratory, after completing the course on brain electrophysiology in the research and scientific psychiatry institute of the Russian Ministry of Health.

According to his colleagues, the renowned doctor always showed his professional skill, remained an efficient leader, and maintained careful, unbiased approach to testing and treating his highly varying patients that included people with mental, mental-physical, and drug use issues.

Vyacheslav Belousov helped develop and implement modified techniches of electroshock therapy and enforced insulin-shock treatment methods.

The doctor is constantly improving his professional level by participating in scientific events all over Russia, and mentors numerous students who are working in electric test laboratories in Penza regional institutions.

Vyacheslav Belousov has been certified as a crime psychiatrist, actively takes part in the work of the Penza department of the Association of Psychiatrists, Narcologists, and Psychoterapists.

In 2003, he was awarded the title of “High Achiever of Medicine.”
